Connectivity - A Challenge Not Only in Rural Areas
Mobile solutions that address mobility in rural areas often face the challenge that network coverage for data transfers is only temporarily available. Our data services are designed to know where insufficient network coverage is expected to allow application developers to fetch updated information sufficiently in advance. Depending on the network coverage, we apply situation-aware data compression and predictive packaging.
Scheduling Data Transmission
Network coverage and frequent interruptions of connectivity put strong limitations on web services. Thus, we provide a data scheduling service that predicts how much data can be transmitted at which points along a route to ensure optimal service quality even in remote regions.
Predicting Network Coverage
Ubiquitous connectivity is a key component for mobility services and navigation systems to get live maps and traffic data. However, network coverage is often limited and knowing beforehand which regions along a route are well covered is a key differentiating factor. We provide worldwide network coverage maps to predict connectivity even in the most distant regions. Our coverage predictions consider the positions of cellular base stations, antenna configurations, and the terrain as a signal limiting factor. Additionally, we use crowd-sourced signal strength measurements to make the predictions even more precise.
